it really depends on the person...some people really do care about everyone else around them and like to do nice things for people just for the heck of it....others have only their selfish ambitions and from what ive seen in life, more people follow those selfish ambitions than stop to even think about others around them, although it is kind of a 50/50 chance kinda thing...but like i said, it depends on the person

Depends - it could be that someone is saying something nice to get into your pants, or they could be saying something nice because they like you (IE they like you not they LIKE _{wink wink nudge nudge} like.... you get the point) OR they could be saying it to kiss your butt
