As a comic artist striving constantly to get better, I've found a good portion of the usual tools to speaking to other comic artists (going to groups, using the forum, sifting through users to find someone to talk to) don't effectively get the job done.
It would be nice I think if dA was able to somehow (through free memberships, special deals etc.) create specific chats with people who are professionals in their artistic fields so those in the general public can learn and grow as well. and use the notices that go out to advertise for contests etc. to notify the everyday user when such special chats would be available. I hope I don't sound like an idiot and thank you for hearing my idea.
Hello, I do have a suggestion, that is a third gender submission in submitting deviations for character uploads in the daviantart categorizer in the uploader. [link]
When I was going to submit this artwork there was no option to select : Intersex/Androgynous , only male and female...
(Intergendered is a better term, which can combine the two together, but may also include the feminine/masculine divergence of Intersex/Androgynous characters..
First of all , I find it biased and sexist to only have two options only. I am Intergendered myself but live in the female role I would put myself into the female option, however the illustrated character choose to be neither and sitting right in the middle.. You may argue, its just an art character... but people like this if you see my nudes exist ... what if the character was not a drawing or digitally created but a photograph/photo manipulation? You cant put them in
creatures and animals... , but society does ! I know from experience !
You cant put them in robots and machines either... society treats them as such too , and don't get treated like human(sentient) beings... and since most of them are arguably more intelligent and sensitive and loyal than the binary, companies and corporations would take an advantage of them if they ever employ them...

Just wanted to say, a friend of mine pointed out that if you have no badges displayed, there is no way to get to the page where you can choose what badges you want displayed. So a badge editing page in settings or something would be useful; as is, I asked her to turn off pageviews and click that badge to solve the problem. But that seems lengthy to me.

I just had an idea, so I thought I'd suggest it to you!
Some people are picky about what they may get in their messages. What if we could select what we want to see from an artists you're watching. Like if you only wanted digital and traditional, not photography!

I want to be a Community Volunteer for Fan Art!
I hope this reaches your eyes since you are director of of community Relations, but it's a valid issue/suggestion I really hope can be implemented in the near future.
Premium groups receive the perk of using sub folders and it creates a great, more organized way to manage submissions. In fact this was my number one reason to have a croup I co-found go premium. We had members chip in points until we reached our goal and we do have subfolders and we love them!
HOWEVER, I'm not sure developers are aware but all the nesting we as admins view when we go to move art around in the group galleries are not there when members try to submit. They get ALL the folders so it's not organized and looks like a jumple of overlapping folders they can put their art into and it causes confusion. So I wanted to suggest implementing that nesting view for members who want to submit to super groups.
For example the nesting would be:
Art >Digital >>>Vector >>>Photomanip Photography >Traditional >>>Paintings >>>Drawings
They see when they submit:
Art Digital Drawings Paintings Photography Photomanip Traditional Vector
And it causes confusion because there are two possible folders to put an art into, one being a main/one being a sub folder.
I have made this attention to help desk and they linked me to suggestions page, and suggestions page led me here. So I do hope it is considered; I just want someone who may be able to help to know about it. I just am trying to better the experience of members of my group and make it easier for them.

I would like to suggest that we can use flash swf files as our DeviantIDs. My reasons for suggesting this are:
- Many flash artists on Deviantart would like to customise their DeviantIds with animations. The only way to do so currently is using a Animated Gif, but Gifs are notorious for being of low quality, slow and extremely hard to work with. A swf file is not only smaller in size, but allows smoother animations to be played out.
- Deviantart is a great website to use as a online portfolio. Allowing swf files to be used as DeviantIds can let flash artists showcase their work and creativity better. A swf file can be used as a application, a game or a animated business card which allows for a lot of possibilites.
I am aware that swf files can be misused but a few measures can be taken to prevent their misuse for DeviantIds.
- Limiting the file size is a good measure as sounds, music or extra animations that may disturb users make a swf file dramatically bigger.
- If stray sound or music is a problem, the submitted swf file can be muted to prevent such problems.
I sincerely hope Deviantart can seriously consider this matter as it would make a whole lot of difference for us Flash artists and animators when we use the website.
