We arrived Friday early evening and set up camp on our lakeside site.
You can tell that *gimp is very happy..
We had a family of ducks living on our 'Private Beach' but momma duck was very skittish and didn't want to be photographed.

No electricity, no cell signal.. glorious. We were serenaded by Bull Frogs at night and woken by the song birds in the morning. There is one song bird I'm still trying to identify. It sang a noted tune that was eerily similar to the mockingjay song from The Hunger Games. As I type this, I'm searching through libraries of song bird calls and my cats are going insane
Saturday morning, we headed out canoeing with our fishing rods in tow. Mine of course is pink, this caused much joking, but I caught the most fish so .. jokes on them
Sunday morning we returned to the city, and while I was trying to avoid being steam-rolled by a crazy woman with a shopping cart at the grocery store, I was wondering why they refer to this.. as civilization.
Regardless, it was a needed unwinding and while it was short, it was blissful and I feel refreshed and recharged!
Do you every unplug from the grid? and if so, what do you do? If you don't, what do you do to relax??

.....If I REALLY want to just get out and can't afford that trip... I"ll go to my parents' down the street and watch old black and white movies and have a great time.
the best part is how quiet it is.
We take roadtrips everywhere throughout the course of late summer, early fall. Last year we drove through the Southwest region of the US -- it was lovely.
Glad you had a relaxing time, you deserve it!
The closest I can get is going online to one of the F2P RPG games that have beautiful graphics - since I no longer have the mobility I used to.
My dream is to get ahold of 5 acres of land, with woods & stream to put a place to live on. Build a barn, gardens & pond/fountain. Have a greenhouse, chickens, bunnies, goats, goats, horses & other... have green energy to live off the grid & hydroponics to process water, a spring & live my days in paradise - filled with greenery & wildlife... if I want so called "civilization" I'll hop onto the net to watch a movie, chat or check the news. Maybe check the classifieds for anything of interest.
I'd be quite happy to enjoy the country life again. Though it's going to be a while till I find that perfect 5 acres to make into my sanctuary.
