We arrived Friday early evening and set up camp on our lakeside site.
You can tell that *gimp is very happy..
We had a family of ducks living on our 'Private Beach' but momma duck was very skittish and didn't want to be photographed.

No electricity, no cell signal.. glorious. We were serenaded by Bull Frogs at night and woken by the song birds in the morning. There is one song bird I'm still trying to identify. It sang a noted tune that was eerily similar to the mockingjay song from The Hunger Games. As I type this, I'm searching through libraries of song bird calls and my cats are going insane
Saturday morning, we headed out canoeing with our fishing rods in tow. Mine of course is pink, this caused much joking, but I caught the most fish so .. jokes on them
Sunday morning we returned to the city, and while I was trying to avoid being steam-rolled by a crazy woman with a shopping cart at the grocery store, I was wondering why they refer to this.. as civilization.
Regardless, it was a needed unwinding and while it was short, it was blissful and I feel refreshed and recharged!
Do you every unplug from the grid? and if so, what do you do? If you don't, what do you do to relax??

I read all the wonderful dedications on your birthday. It was a lovely tribute. The CSS made for you is really nice, too
In recent years I've gone on a few cruises and find them relaxing, except for the people. LOL though I've almost always been able to find an almost deserted deck to hang out and watch the world go by. I haven't been camping since I was young... well over 20 yrs now, but the GF and I are talking about it. I love nature, and can walk out my door and see mountains. I love living in a rural area.
It sounds like you had tons of fun, lol on the pink super fish catcher. *gimp did look very happy to be back in his element... I mean to be on vacay. Glad you guys got away.
Last time I went camping, there were mosquitoes everywhere, even in the tent
We were thinking of staying a day longer than we had planned, it's lucky we didn't though, because the night after we left there was heavy rain, and the banks of a nearby river burst and the whole place was evacuated...
When I was MUCH younger my friends and I would go camping and bring along the acoustic guitars. Was so much fun and so relaxing. Those were the days. Now that we are all surrounded with so much technology it's good to just remove ourselves from everyday life. Pure relaxation and soul searching
I love to drive a few hours from St. Paul, Minnesota to Northern Minnesota to visit family and friends get out on the lake fishing with my father or find some new walking trails with my friends.
I sometimes unplug but it's been a while now. The small unplug I do now and then is read a book but right now I'm reading an awful dry and boring book which I just must read to its end (I've only stopped reading one book my whole life and that still disturbs me even though it was so crappy and made my eyes bleed). The medium one is to go somewhere over the day and the big one is to travel somewhere I've never been
