great layout in panel 3 with the perspective and curving beams.

but the choice of colors makes it seem too cheerful considering what's going on.

Thanks for your reply, i like the colors in that way, but you are right about it broke the " rules " of schematics minds, and it is contradictory if my goal were the win, but i cannot go against what i feel.

Thank you, i made it heavier than normal, trying to made it looks different, i don't like the original design with a lot of big and sharp teeth, i think the darkness will win in a contest where winner have to be the more generic dark super hero; but i enjoy making the metro station and making that stupid situation more stupid than originally was, so... looking my work from that point; do you like it?

Yes, I like it. Your style suits comedic comic more than dramatic or horror.

Thank you for your reply, some times the opinion of other is useful to learn about our own work. I like dramatic or horror things, but the real ones, those that can make me feel some thing, in the case of commercial art like this, i just feel i am testing a dark candy. Thanks again

Noticing that everything that placed has colors on it...which lets me know that I really didn't have time for this contest if i wanted to place..well anywhere. to bad though, saw a few line arts that were competitive at that process point! congrats to the winners!

Would you believe me if I said my wip that I decided not to finish looked almost exactly like these?
The prompt was SUUUUPER specific, I think everyone's came out looking relatively similar- which is sort of a good thing because it left it all up to the artists' true overall ability to render things.

You may have not won even if you put colors and text on it. Just sayin'.

This is not Facebook it is DeviantArt. Congrats to the winners. A page that should have been fully ready for print (inked, colored & lettered) should have been called out in the rules. For future contests please do so.

I am not sure whether you hit wrong 'reply' button or didn't get the message correctly.

You may have not won even if you put colors and text on it is a short way of telling:
"Absence of color does not necessarily mean the difference between winning and not winning," which implies that even if the piece was fully lettered, inked and colored, the piece might not have won because judge(s) would not deem it good enough to be a semi-finalist, much less a winner. In the end, it really boils down to what judges think, and everything else is irrelevant. This guy has absolutely no chance of knowing that, had his piece filled all terms in rules, judges would let it pass to the semi-finale.

Or to tell long story short: ready-for-print (inked, colored, lettered) ≠ semi-finalist or winner, and this is exactly what I expressed in my OP.

i enjoyed doing this. first ever time doing sequential art. wish there were more contests like this. I agree with most of the comments about the contest being largely skewed on style. I spent alot of time on getting the right lettering and text bubbles right. Daztibble should have made it based on sheer talent alone. fun to work on this and good luck to everyone

HOLY SON OF A DARKLING !!!

That's so flattering ! I love comics and I've read that people like my entry but I'm so unpracticed in doing them, that a first place FIRST PLACE (!) came extremly unexpected. Getting to read what Marc Silvestri thinks about my work is a blast. Especially if he likes it :D

Thanks so much for all your positive feedback that kept me going ! It really meant a lot to me :)

Excuse me if I'm not going to reply on every post. I'm off, polishing my entry and getting it ready for print. ...and I'm still speechless

as a joke. I thought of doing this as a joke. how everyone turns pre existing characters into dogs. i'd make the judges cry, and the owners of The Darkness's IP cry harder.
