I think everyone is forgetting a key fact. The judges and not your skills get to decide who the winners are!!! It doesn't matter if you use some high tech software to edit your entry or if you have 30 years of experience under your belt. If the judges do not find your entry appealing, you will lose. It all comes down to what the judges prefer. Lets say for example the judge is from a company and this particular judge went through a bad experience in his or her childhood. He or she was ridiculed because of his/her style. This person then became and engineer and is now a judge at a contest. An entry comes in that looks exactly like his/her style. What do you think would happen.

Always remember that the entries that win don't necessarily mean they are the best entries, but are the ones the judges preferred and this applies to all contests. Never stoop down to the point of slandering their hard work nor yours because EVERYONE gave it their best unless you didn't, but then I'll ask you why. Congratulate them and be proud of your own work.

Ok. Scratch all that junk that I just said. What's worse than losing is having the one you thought you lost to also lose. It's like a double losing streak.

The winning picture looked great. Too bad the contest was restricted to US residents only. I guess the rest of us don't matter, huh.

Okay, I have been skimming these comments and just want to say that no matter what happened these pictures are amazing, so yeah the artists might have really good software and that helped them, so what? That doesn't mean that they are "cheating" they are probably trying to do this kind of art for a career and so they have the tools they need that doesn't mean they shouldn't be able to enter a contest and have a fair chance at winning, you have people of all ages who all have different styles art and levels of artistic ability. The artists who won and frankly any artist who entered this contest, congratulations, it takes a lot to be willing to put your work up for scrutiny and to those who are putting them down I feel sorry for you and ask that you think before you speak, no deserves to be told that their art is worthless and when you say that things like this are rigged that is what you are doing. So please people think before you comment. Again, congratulations to those who entered and won or just plain entered, you are braver than most :)
