Bosses are the biggest, baddest, and strongest enemies in any video game. They control hordes of monsters, rule the land, and they usually take a lot of skill to defeat. We're challenging you to create a new colossus
(a boss) for the new massively multiplayer online role-playing game, RIFT.

You're traveling through Telara as a bright light appears. A massive rift opens up and monsters start invading. Your team fights to protect their land. As they continuously battle the invading monsters, a massive, 10-story colossus appears.

deviantART is challenging artists to answer the question: What does this colossus look like in RIFT?

Choose one of the six planar themes: earth, air, fire, water, life, or death. Create concept art of a colossus using one of the themes. You can use your favorite image editing tool, a 3D program, or traditional media.

You must build a new colossus for the game RIFT.

Your colossus:

Must be based on only one of the six planar themes
Must be very large within the scale of the game environment
Must be original to you and all elements must originate from you. You cannot copy graphic material from the game.
Can be made in any medium as long as you submit it as a JPG or a PNG
Can be made using licensed brushes and textures, but you may not use third-party stock in your entry

Terrible to behold and teeming with elemental might, a colossus represents the ultimate destructive power of its plane, leading its fellow riftspawn to battle against scores of Ascended.

Create concept art for a massive boss using your favorite image editing program, 3D graphics software, or traditional media.

Once you're done, submit it as a .JPG or .PNG file!

Entry must be received by 11:59:59PM (PT) on June 19, 2011 and be submitted through the contest gallery on deviantART.

Entrants must be at least 13 years old to participate. Residents of any country are eligible;
Entries can originate in any medium but must be in JPG or PNG file format when submitted. Online entries only, hard copies not accepted;
Entries must be themed to a single planar theme (earth, air, fire, water, life, or death);
You may submit more than one entry;
You must be a member of deviantART to enter. Membership is free;
