I wanted to post a quick update on changes to Daily Deviations. It is important to note that these changes have not been hard-coded so my team is manually following these new guidelines. This means that errors can and likely will occur until the coding is complete, your patience and understanding is appreciated
The following guideline changes are in effect:
The 3-month rule is now the 6-month rule, meaning that it must be at least 6-months since the last time an artist received a daily deviation. (This was an overwhelmingly popular suggestion from the community and I agree, it's a good one!)
Daily deviation selectors may only select one daily deviation per day maximum. This has been put in place to focus on Quality vs Quantity.
It is the hope that these changes, along with internal changes, will help to ensure that the selections will better reflect the variety and talent that can be found in our community.

Woo! I like these changes. I find people get drowned out too easily with DDs, because there are so many of them. I'm looking forward to seeing what effect these new rules have.

ok i really love this artist and shes had sooo many popular devaitions but no dd as far as i know and i think its high time she got one i really love the way all the colors flow n this peaice and even tho her hairs floating aroung it look purposfull and pretty[link]
oh, and this has nothing to do with rules, but may i suggest that it be easier to find an artist's DDs in their gallery? like a button somewhere, instead of a link at the bottom of the "browse" page.
There is no global limit in place and I love that you brought up descriptions, I'm going to be asking questions about those in the next CR newsletter being posted hope to hear your thoughts!

Was it fairly recent? Cause for a while there we were told not to put in a description with the piece :3 and some of us now don't at all. And most suggesters don't send a description anymore (to me anyway!) anyhow.
There's someone with like...30 because the mods (way way back) decided to feature the creature gallery he was making of dA every single day. I think things have tightened up a bit more since then...since that was a looong time ago....
Some don't include reasons ever, I don't think it's bad. It helps them to know what you see in the piece. (I once had a suggestion that I'd written with really bad grammar displayed, ahhh!)
Might we suggest that the GMs actually tell us why their featuring the piece, rather than just slapping a picture on the page for no reason? This has been suggested before and I think it's a good idea.
That used to be done all the time - then there was a public announcement about how that would be taken out, and most of us haven't done much of that since then.
Sounds good. I wish sometimes the people giving the DD would leave more of a description sometimes. It's like being handed a reward at a ceremony without them saying what for, and then rushing you off the stage.
I'm actually for the 6-month rule. In fact, I was having a conversation earlier this evening with an artist who got quite a few DDs a few years ago, and hasn't received any in the past 3 years, even though the quality of his work has improved.
I wouldn't mind even seeing it go something like: 6 months after the first DD, 8 months after the second DD, 10 months after the 3rd, etc.. But I hate to see artists perpetually cut off for the rest of eternity simply because they've been here since the dawn of time and already have four from 7 years ago.
