Hello!

The purpose of Artist Relations is to strengthen the community spirit as well as network with fellow artists so that we may bring outside opportunities to you, and help you to hone your skills. The Gallery Directors are the first people you should go to regarding your galleries. They are the people you need to make gallery suggestions to, and ask questions about your specific genre, or seek knowledge from. They also act as your lifeline to the administration. They are here to support and listen, and I can tell you we've got incredibly talented, devoted and passionate people on this team, so get to know them!

:bulletgreen: Thank you for the great response to my search for an anime gallery director, it was so good in fact I found two I can't wait to announce to you.  Soon.. soon..

:bulletgreen: The resources gallery is frightening I am aware but believe it or not coming together quite nicely.  There are things being moved around, not necessarily correctly.  I ask that you *please* stop sending in help desk requests if your image has been moved in the resources gallery and please wait for me to announce that the restructuring is over.  It would be extremely helpful.  Thank you.

:bulletgreen: The gallery pages have begun being changed over from the old layout to version 5 which means they currently take you to the browse pages for that gallery.  However, shortly they will have links to the forums and the news areas for those galleries as well.

:bulletgreen: For my next trick I will be restructuring the dA related gallery so look for it to turn to chaos soon :) Its what I do best, really.

:bulletgreen: Just a reminder that we still have the gremlin that prevents newly created categories from showing up in the browse menu for almost a week.  Annoying yes, but that's the deal for now while they try to eradicate it.

:bulletgreen: Keep your eyes open for new exciting contests coming!

The Key System
As you can see at the very bottom there is now a Key System. The way this will work is simple. If you have a specific inquiry or suggestion for a specific department, begin your comment with the appropriate Key Code, that way we can search the page and compile them and address them. Neat, huh?

It has been pretty quiet on the western front of late, seems that our gallery is slipping back into ye old foot and mouth closeups. This is not what our gallery is for. No No No. Please people, don't make myself and lady-atropos go insane, not to mention the poor people who browse the gallery looking for quality fetish photography, put your closeup shots in the closeup gallery. We will only be transferring them over there anyway, it saves you and us the heartache. Even though your feet in a pair of stinky trainers or on a patch of grass at the park may be an object of your boyfriends affection, these closeup shots really don't belong in fetish. You have been warned, and not just once!

In other news, I put it to my readers to list their top five favourite sexy-genre shots. This proved to be the most difficult task of the millenia and a few people couldn't rise to the occasion. Those who were strong enough to do so can have their selections viewed here.

Hi guys!  No real issues to report this time. I would like to take this time to remind you that if you have a problem with a DD that is chosen in any category and absolutely must say something about the deviation being given said DD PLEASE contact the gallery director that awarded it and not the deviant!  We all realize that not everyone is going to agree with the DDs we give out but please, please, PLEASE do not tell the artist their work isn't worthy of being featured.  It's not up to the artist to decide what gets chosen for a DD.  If you hate something we feature contact us and suggest to us what you do want to see DDed!  I might be able to read minds... but er... not all of us can.

I am about a week or so behind in my gallery thumbnail and interview articles. (I was really sick... full of snot and the like but you don't want to know about that, right?) If you would like to see your favorite comics and cartoons artist interviewed please get in touch with me about it!  Send me a note and i'll be sure to get back to ya.

Alrighty, that's that for this AR newsletter! Be sure to stop by delSHARK's page and make promises of chocolate and puppies... or chocolate-puppies.  Either one.  It's on my to-do list.

Greetings from Stock Art

David and Sandi say Hello and send you a postcard telling you

“Wish you were Here”

.....

Report those Recats!!

Not that we are looking for more work but we would like to keep the gallery as clean possible –

With the distant dream of keeping all those fuzzy low res non – useful picture out. What happens when you mark that picture Policy Violation – Wrong Section?

Well it shows up on a report that all gallery directors see – and look at... From there... A gallery director looks at the picture and the complaint and uses a special tool to move the picture to another category (if in
violation)

To be honest. Most of us (not all) will move it to scraps – hoping that if you are valid in the posting (not a scrap picture – just in the wrong category) you will put it back in the correct category

.....

I did want to remind everyone in stock to use good ‘keyword’s so make it easier for people to find what they need to borrow from stock

......

Check out this discussion ( -:forum.deviantart.com/galleries… :- ) from Stock Arts good friend  UnicornReality .. Very cool idea

.........

Stock Art – is on a 5 years mission to bravely go where no man (or women) has gone before... (Fade out playing the Stock – Trek theme song)

First off, hi! There's a lot of stuff going on at S&T, what with all these new styles and themes going around, and all the open-source love that you can feel in the air! The SLIMpify contest is also on, and I can't wait to see what the kiddies come up with. Moving on to larger matters, S&T is looking to enlarge the sandbox so more kiddies can come play with us. I'm teaming up with some of the best skinners, including janvanlysebettens to create a slew of resources, events and activities to help get more artists and designers into skinning. To start with, we're offering some open-source skin designs for you to fool around with, modify, and release as your own, and tips and tricks on how to go about it. Anyone else who is interested in this initiative can contact me by note. For more details check out Skinning.

ey Wallpaper People. Not much to report this edition, save that I'm STILL
having to remove copyright violations and my little reminder from last
time did nothing to remind people that you cannot submit any images which
contain copyrighted images.

To clear something up; because the majority of work that gets removed
because of copyright infringements is Fan Art, this does NOT mean that
myself or dA are anti-fan art. This is just not the case. We are however
bound by the submission agreements which prevent you from submitting works
which would acceptable elsewhere on the net. Please please please take the
time to read the submission agreement BEFORE you submit so as to avoid
confusion.

Daily Deviations

Please keep your notes and suggestions coming for any wallpaper Daily
Deviations. I do appeciate every note I get even if I don't get the time
to reply to every single one (although I am trying to catch up with that,
so bare with me). Just send your notes to me with a link to the deviation
you want featured including a short paragraph on why it's so great!

until next time,

General Digital

Greetings, this week I have a mixed bag to report.  First the bad because I like to end things on a good note.  The Miscellaneous needs a lot of work right now so this main digital gallery is now my primary focus.  The
amount of miscategorized art is almost overwhelming, and certainly depressing.

The Misc. gallery is not a photography gallery, or another paintings gallery, or another drawings gallery, or another 'insert gallery name here' gallery.  Nor is the Misc. gallery a place to put art simply because
you don't have a clue where it goes.  If you have a digital image and need help with finding the right gallery for it, please ask for help.  I go out of my way to help people with situations such as this.  If you note me, or
I get a help ticket requesting advice on posting art, expect an answer within 24 hours, usually much less.  I'll do my best to help you.

Now, the Misc. gallery is a gallery for digital artwork that doesn't clearly adhere to the other main digital galleries.  If you created your digital image using one technique or medium, it typically belongs in
another gallery that is suited exactly for that type of art.  If you have an image that uses two or more mediums mixed together, then the Misc. gallery is probably the best place.  The best way to think of this gallery
is a Mixed Media gallery.  For instance, you have a drawing that you added vector elements to, or painted on, or added a fractal or abstract image to, this is a type of mixed media.  Take a look at the Misc. >
Pop Art and the Misc. > Abstract for some great examples of this type of art.

Lastly, the Digital Misc. gallery is a place where some of the best art on DeviantArt can be found.  Don't believe me?  Take a look at Her Silent Silhouette, Summoning the Serpent, Her
Valentine
, Azhrarn, and Closeup of Autumn Whisperlings.  All of those utilize a combination of techniques and all of them have thousands of faves on them.

Btw, the 'Report Policy Violation' does get results.  Help us and help the galleries by bringing miscategorized postings to our attention.

Okay, I promised to end on a good note.  The September Digital feature is coming up and judging by what I've seen posted this month, it's going to be hot.  The plan is to feature as much art as possible and bring in even more deviants from the community to help showcase what they thought was the best.  Stay tuned, it's just around the corner.

Along with that, I'm kicking around some ideas for featuring more areas of the digital galleries.  The more artists that get help and exposure, the better this place gets.  One feature that I am going to bring back in the
somewhat near future is Gallery Hopping.  The goal is to break down each and every digital gallery with the gallery description, an explanation, and some art from that area.  I think this might give people some visual
understanding of what art goes in what gallery.  Stay tuned and keep an eye on the News pages, it's becoming the place to hang out and see what's new.

Hallo everybody!

Not been a hugely eventful 1 month or so in the Flash Gallery but there's one thing that no doubt all of you will have noticed.

Lets take a little stroll back in time when dAv5 was launched. There was a problem with any Flash uploaded after the v5 launch. They showed the preview image but required you to click "download" to view them.

Well for all those that don't know, that's not the case anymore. So if you comment about anything in this newsletter please give some love to the awesome IT dept for sorting that out.

Other than that there's not a lot to report on; although there's developing plans for a gallery restructuring.  :)

Until next time Flashers, if you've got any problems, feedback or general comments you know where to find me.
:peace:

Make sure you keep checking out the news and forums for the photography gallery. The forums are a great source of information and conversation. You can meet other active members of dA's photography gallery there too. You can find the photography forums here. The news page has tons of features and articles relating to photography. You can also submit your own news story if you feel like it. See the photography news here.

Thanks for reading this update. We look forward to reading your feedback and to answering your comments and suggestions in our next update. :community:
