Not sure why there are so many flames on this article. Adcast has served me well in the past and $20 is a pretty good rate to be featured indiscriminately on a site this large. Most other sites charge way more than that to be featured during prime surfing times (such as weekends and nights).

At any rate, I bought the $20 promotion deal and it got the word out for me about some of my sales along with at least 30 new Watchers. Glad to see it running and hope you'll keep doing it! There's no greater power than the power to find people who connect with your artwork on some level:)

DA is a mind-numbingly huge site. Any way to make it easier for us to connect to those who might like our work is well worth it, in my opinion!

If one is really good at art people would naturally flock to one's page after a while..... if one is short of the views, one should use the money to go buy some better art supplies or a how-to book instead

I quite agree. There is a bit of luck involved with this route, but eventually talented artists will get noticed. ^_^

Actually no one is going to know you're out there if you don't advertise somehow. Comment a lot, flood the galleries with art, fave a bunch of art, or buy advertising. People don't magically arrive just because your art is decent.

Commenting, faving and gallery-submitting are a given are they not? No magic required. And plus, I don't think I've ever seen some of the really popular deviants on here actually use adcast. The main idea is to enjoy what you do and work hard first and foremost but if one can actually afford to buy adCast well then that's a nice addition but it's not really a necessity by any means.

I've been on this site since 2002 and to be honest I've never really gotten much back out of commenting and faving. If you're just here for fun then it's one thing but if you are serious about promoting your art you are going to have to invest in advertising of some sort at some point. However I still prefer the old packages of thousands of impressions dA use to sell rather than clicks.

Haha I understand where you're coming from - it isn't easy for most of us to get the amount of audience we want but when you're just starting out it's kind of hard to afford and so what I was trying to say was that it's pointless for most people to use adCast especially when they are just starting out. xD But hey, there are lots of ways to promote your art (even outside of dA) yeah?

But from what I've seen of your arts you're doing quite well! :) I hope your success increases greatly in the future ^_^
