:bulletgreen: PixelPeddlers - Welcome to PixelPeddlers, a customizaton group focused on the best DA has to offer. The main purpose behind our group is to build a center for customization community, where shady deals can be made (suites!) and you can have a cool chat with other customizers. A place you can return to after being AFK for a longer period of time while still feel like you have something in common with the people there, and they give you proper feedback on your work. With that in mind, we want to create a group-whole collaborations and projects that can give customization more eyeballs (+ they are fun to make), and create a platform for skinners to participate in and share new ideas through.

In Recognition of Exemplary Membership and an Outstanding Spirit of helpfulness and mentoring within the DeviantArt community.

Introducing Miguel-Santos

In my mind, I became a photographer when I was a child. I marveled at our family slideshows, projected onto a white sheet on the wall, in our darkened living room. Those beautiful slices of time, floating in beams of dusty light, cheered by the small crowd at every snap, made me realize how much I wanted to take pictures.

I grew up in the outskirts of Lisbon, Portugal, and I travelled the world through the photographs of great masters. I studied every detail, wondered about their adventures, and dreamed of my own. Now I live in Santa Catarina, in southern Brazil, where I fell in love with nature and its culture too, of course, and I found myself becoming a storyteller through pictures.

It has been a great journey to become that picture taker. However, the journey to establish myself as an artist would have never even started without stepping into the world of DeviantArt.

Since I joined this awesome community, I felt embraced by its creative spirit and love of art. I met artists and made friends who inspire me as a person. It takes courage for me to share my passion. It takes nerve to share my visions and call myself an artist. DeviantArt became my guide to find that strength within and its citizens my partners in this grand adventure.

Thanks to you, I have become an artist, inspiring others. What a precious reward for sharing.

To those who supported my work over the years and to everyone who relates to it, I am proud to be a citizen among you. Much love to you all.

Long live DeviantArt.

January 2015

Deviousness Award Winner

Miguel-Santos perfectly captures the spirit of a true deviant through his work on DeviantArt! A photographer for fifteen years and a deviant for four, Miguel has made an incredible impact on DeviantArt's photography community through his personal work and contributions to various DeviantArt groups, where he's always ready to provide helpful feedback to his fellow photographers. With a gallery full of photographs that tell brilliant stories, he provides an exclusive glimpse into an otherwise unseen life.

We're proud to name Miguel-Santos as the Deviousness Award recipient for January 2016

Miguel has a talent that radiates throughout his entire gallery. It won't take you long to fall in love with his work, but perhaps even more surprising is how quickly you'll fall for the man behind the lens. His passion and love for the community here at DA is as bright of a beacon as his art. Taking the time to suggest DDs, comment thoughtfully, and participate in projects like the Capturing Change initiative with Sony, it's easy to see that his mark has been made here. Congratulations to a truly outstanding deviant.

In photography there is a reality so subtle that it becomes more real than reality. Alfred Stieglitz

What I noticed most about Miguel and his photography is the warmth in his composition. It's not just what he shoots that counts it's the way that he shoots which is critical, as well. Poor choices in photo composition can make a fantastic subject appear dull, but a well-set scene can create a wonderful image from the most ordinary of situations. Miguel has the ability to do just so. The way he frames a shot, chooses a focal length or position makes all the difference in the outcome, which is beautiful to see. He has become over the years a great asset to the DeviantArt community in terms of inspiration and an all around cool deviant! Congrats on the well deserved award of deviousness!

Nigel Stamos?! Seriously, DeviantArt? Out of the 25 million plus members on this site, you chose to give the award to some Marcelle Lactose?! I've known Mirabel Standtoes for quite some time, and I will say this about the guy: Marvell Signpost is not human, nor is he of this world. I've rarely come across a person who exudes humanity and tenderness like our Seagal Mantoast. In fact, he reeks of it, and it's disgusting. He's like our very own, Kal-El -- red underpants and all. Sure, he's talented. Sure, he shoots amazing pictures. Sure, he's been a great inspiration to many of us and will remain so forever and ever! And hell yeah, we'll always love him for it... but seriously, DeviantArt? Seriously? I'd like to conclude this rant by saying that I cannot think of a deviant more deserving of the Deviousness Award than the one, the only, and the somewhat irreplaceable, Miguel-Santos. Congratulations, my friend!

All I have to say about Miguel-Santos is WOW. What a talented fellow. I don't know him personally but I LOVE viewing his art. He captures nature so beautifully. It makes me want to visit every area. One of my top favorite photographers on DeviantArt for sure!

I came across Miguel through his artworks, those exquisite photographs that were able to tell so many stories with just a glimpse!!! I was lucky enough to exchange a few comments with him and it was there when I realized what an amazing human being he was, not just as an artist, but as a friend!!! He has a humble heart sunk in an ocean of greatness!!! And every time I see his works I am reminded of why I fell "in like at first sight" with him!!! I'm SO proud to see you up here today my sweet dear friend, you are absolutely all that this award holds, and it is with honor that I congratulate you with big joy inside of my heart!!! Keep being the awesome artist/human you are, Miguel!!!

Miguel, to me, is probably one of the best photographers on DeviantArt. There is a very special vision he shares with us, encouraging us to cherish human beings and our environment. From what I humbly think about our World, I would simply say Miguel would be our Ambassador, delivering a message of true hope and beauty through his work. I am genuinely honored and proud to know Miguel on DeviantArt, and deeply inspired by him as a Photographer.

Miguel is a brilliant and inspirational artist as well as an active deviant and a generous person. He is always a positive and cheerful presence and everyone who knows him knows just how amazing it is to be around him. I first found Miguel through his art, i remember being fascinated by his photos and the way he presented the world through them. Even now, after many years, I’m reminded of the beauty around us every time I take a look at his gallery. I'm very glad I'm writing this in celebration of his award, Miguel is well deserving of this honor. Congratulations!

Miguel is one of those photographers that captures a rare atmospheric scene, most of his photographs are so calming whilst others tell a story. What is truely amazing is that he selects the most appropriate comment from his photographs and places them on his profile page, showing that deviants really like his photographs, his artwork whilst also promoting the deviant that commented. Miguel says thank you, he gives out llamas, true Deviant and worthy of this award.

Miguel is one of the most inspiring photographers here on DeviantArt, and also an amazing guy. The diversity in his photography is truly outstanding, especially given the fact that he masters each one of them. He has a creative mind, and great skill, thus going through his gallery is like taking a special journey. I recommend everyone go take a look!

Miguel's photography is impactful, delivering strong messages about the world around him. His dedication to the DeviantArt community is also admirable. From his participation in the Capturing Change project to his promotion of Sketch This challenges and encouraging users to watch and interact with one another, he has touched many areas of the website with his enthusiasm and energy. He's truly a role model for other members and absolutely deserving of being the first Deviousness recipient for 2016. Congrats, Miguel!

Congratulations to Miguel-Santos!

What can I say about Amber that you don't already know? KovoWolf has been a part of the Community Volunteer team for over 4 years and during her time infected everyone with her positive attitude and love for the DA community.  While she spent most of her time representing the Anthro community, you would have also seen her active in the forums, leading countless projects and hosting an array of community contests.  She's also solely responsible for making my meeting logs look pretty :D

While we're going to miss her boundless energy on the team, I know she's not going to be far but please take a moment to say 'Thank You' to this dynamic deviant!

Introducing griffsnuff

My name is Tina, and I am a bubbly happy artist from Norway who enjoy sharing and learning more about art. I have been drawing my whole life and it is probably thanks to my mom that I kept on drawing. She has always been my biggest supporter and encouraged me to keep drawing.

I joined DeviantArt in 2005, and that is also were I have met my best friends, learned most about myself and my art. Meeting new people from so many different parts of the world and with so many ideas, is really inspiring to me and has made me work and try a lot of different things through my years, I also worked as a concept artist on Among the sleep and that taught me a lot about design which is my favorite part of art besides colors.

I also would like to say thank you for the enormous support and love I have gotten from this community, your words and ideas have inspired me to do so many things, and being able to create art that gives others joy, is worth every second I spend on here and on the art I make!

December 2015

Deviousness Award Winner

griffsnuff is a widely recognized member of the DeviantArt community! A deviant for over 10 years, she's made a huge impact on the chibi and adoptable communities. Her bright colors and distinct line art give her artwork a unique and instantly recognizable look. She's always willing to answer questions and has created an extensive collection of tutorials to aid fellow artists.  We're proud to name griffsnuff as the Deviousness Award recipient for December 2015.

Community Quotes

:iconmzzazn: :icontsaoshin: :iconthegalleryofeve: :iconmiloticscale: :iconstygma: :iconwen-m: :iconsandara:

It is always a treat to find art work from griffsnuff appear in my feed. If you take a peek at her gallery, her artwork is colorful, clean, and also fun in nature. It is inspiring to see how much she has grown from her works in 2005 until now and her tutorial folder is well organized. From experience, I know that tutorials can take ages to create and the fact that she has more than a handful available as free resources is fantastic and shows her willingness to share her knowledge. Some are quite comical too! Thank you for being an inspirational role model to many on DeviantArt and also for being part of this community, griffsnuff! You deserve this.

I am inspired whenever I explore griffsnuff's gallery. It always excites me to see her drawings pop up in my DeviantArt feed, with their beautiful designs, vibrant palettes, and whimsical character designs. In addition to being a wonderfully talented artist, griffsnuff is a down to Earth friendly person who consistently reaches out to the community with fun journals, polls, and events. Her amazing passion for her craft is a big motivation for me and I'm sure for many others in the community. Congratulations, griff!

griffsnuff is one of the most inspiring artists around DeviantArt!!! Love From the color palettes, the lovely expressions of the characters, everything griffsnuff creates is pure joy to the eye!!! I'm very happy to see this award bestowed on griffsnuff, this friendly, amazing artist who selflessly provides sweet little chibi linearts for the entire community to enjoy and color!!! Deviousness is an even sweeter concept today, thanks to griffsnuff !!! Congratulations my friend!!!

griffsnuff definitely has some weight to her name. She's been at the front of the market for commissions for as long as she's been in my watch list. I often see updates from her in my message center and get super curious about what she has to offer and what she's provided recently. Her artwork is simply astounding, and on top of that, she's super friendly and approachable. She always seems pretty eager to answer questions or lend a hand when someone needs real advice from someone who knows what they're doing, and it's pretty hard to find that in serious artists nowadays. She is truly a gem.

Starlord, I mean griffsnuff, is among my favorite artists. I enjoy her art, from the silliest critter to the full detailed pieces; it is fun and can brighten a moody day. I admire her for doing what she likes instead on just focusing on making serious realistic art. griffsnuff is not only skilled; she also makes time to interact with her watchers, making her stand out from many popular artists. I am inspired by her and her work. griffsnuff is a teacher too! I've learned many things from her live art streams and tutorials. From her, I've learned tips and tricks about art, animation and even webpage coding. I appreciate all those things and I believe that griffsnuff is a key member for the DeviantArt community and fully deserves the Deviousness Award!

I came across the art of griffsnuff while searching for a whimsical style, and I just love the way she uses shapes, color and subject matters. The consistency in her gallery is also something that made me watch her, she has a definitive style that I really enjoy!

griffsnuff has come a long way in the years I have known her. Her creatures are super cute and well designed. She's very active in the DA community, and her posts are usually quite funny. She totally deserves the Deviousness award! Congratulations!

Congratulations to griffsnuff!

Kaz-D has been a force on the Community Volunteer team for around five years and you have seen her handy work in several photography groups, countless articles and of course projecteducate. Without Kaz-D, projecteducate would not have been as successful as it has been and it was through her leadership that Community Weeks were born and the inclusion of non-volunteer contributors began --making it a true community effort :)

Today we celebrate a truly awesome volunteer and thank her immensely for her contributions to this community.

:bulletblue: LitRecognition is a group dedicated to promoting the work of literature artists on deviantArt. By showcasing featured DLRs in foreign languages as well as in English, the literature gallery moderators provide the community with a showcase of excellence in Literature. In contrast, we will be showcasing excellence with a series of literature pieces each day in a News Article to serve the community. We are a diverse group featuring 5 pieces of quality literature every day.
(but please remember: A DLR is not a DD!) We are still in need of further prose and poetry admins for our group. Please send your application to the group notes.

Halloween Contest Winners

Mon Nov 16, 2015, 9:55 AM

Felgonrot Hall by j0sh-3000

We are excited to announce the winners of the Halloween 2015 event, Haunted House! The winners are:

First Place: Stygma  (wins 3,000 DA points from Community Relations)
Second Place: ShadowZyn (wins 2,000 DA points from Community Relations)

There was an extremely narrow margin between first and second place! Congratulations to both of you. :pumpkin:

Other Prizes

We decided to give four additional prizes this year for superlatives (best of, etc.).

For best answers, we chose the following contestants:

RichDoes, IllyDragonfly, and SolidMars

Each of these individuals will receive 1,000 points from Community Relations.

Our final winner is for "Most Creative" (which also turned into "Best Overall"): RogueMudblood, who will receive 2,000 points from Community Relations!

Using immense creativity to create in-character responses, RogueMudblood made playing the game even more fun for us. We appreciated the stories and interesting responses, as they helped us see that RogueMudblood appreciated the time and energy we put into creating our games. The fact that people like RogueMudblood cared enough to really put creativity and heart into her responses made the game really fun. RogueMudblood's dedication to the contest really set the bar high for other participants.

Here is an example of an answer from RogueMudblood:

"I stare at the mistress of the house and can't help but wonder how much further I have to go. She seems far more solid than some of the other apparitions, and I consider the possibility that she's actually one of the demonic monsters I've already encountered – or a new one entirely and simply wearing a disguise. Even so, if solving the conundrum she has set for me is all it takes in order to be able to leave this place... But then, she didn't say she'll let me leave yet. Only that she'll help me on my way, which isn't promising, considering all of the people I've been sent to in this place.

As I move the pieces of the puzzle around the board, turning a couple of them in different directions to make them fit, I can't help but wonder about the cat from earlier in the night, and the beer man with the temporal fluxes. Of all the beings in the house thus far, they've been the most normal. It doesn't take long for my hands to move the pieces into place, my mind moving them on the spatial plane far more easily when I'm not concentrating on them directly. I wonder about the two keys that seem to be stuck inside the black mass of two of the pieces - will she make me choose between them? And if so, does one lead to "certain death"?

When the last one falls into place, I turn to look at the mistress of the house, her hands covering her upper arms as they cross over her chest. With the stare she gives me, I can't help but wonder if she's been reading my mind this whole time...."

Thank you all, and congratulations to the winners!!

A special thank-you, too, to all who helped this year. You are loved and appreciated.

Introducing Ry-Spirit

My name Ry/Ry-Spirit. I was born in Hong Kong and moved to Australia when I was 8. It was tough moving to a whole new country in a new school not knowing anyone or a single word of English. It wasn't like I didn't want to make friends but I just didn't know how to start. But something helped with that.... art! It helped me break my shyness as well as giving me the confidence to keep pushing forward. I remember this one time, I had to leave in the middle of class to do something, the next day my friend who was in the class said the teacher (Mr Newton) told the whole class after I left, he said 'Ry, remember that name, he will be a famous artist one day.' That comment really stuck with me and motivated me to become a better artist.

Throughout the years of high school, whenever I get the chance I would just draw, draw and draw. Its great getting positive feedback about my art from my friends and family. I also developed a habit of drawing in people's notebooks without them knowing, its great seeing their reaction when they see it.

Seeing people's smile makes me happy. After high school I really had no idea what I wanted to do, I'm afraid I didn't get enough marks to become a lawyer or doctor (I would be horrible at it anyway). So I studied Graphic Design. It was during then that my girlfriend at the time suggested that I start putting my art online for the world to see. She introduced me to the amazing world of... Deviantart! Ry-Spirit was born that day.

Eventually I moved further away from Graphic Design and focused more on illustration, people seemed to like that. - and so did I! Thank you so much to everyone for all the love and support over the years. I hope I have made you smile with my art, my Rydiculous punny journal entries and my one million polls. I wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for Deviantart. I will continue to be try my best to entertain you! Ry-Spirit cares

November 2015

Deviousness Award Winner

DeviantArt and Ry-Spirit go hand in hand. From his fun-filled artwork to his quirky polls, Ry-Spirit has spent the last eight years becoming a shining light within the community. Having served as a volunteer for the fan art gallery, he’s dedicated his time to making DeviantArt a better place for those around him. His participation in the yearly Valentines Day event and his clever April Fools’ jokes bring a smile to the faces of everyone who encounters them! The DeviantArt community is lucky to have a true deviant like Ry-Spirit. It is with great excitement that we name Ry-Spirit the recipient of the Deviousness Award for November 2015.

Showing Some Love

Community Quotes

:iconkovowolf: :icontsaoshin: :iconrhynwilliams: :iconjcroxas: :iconpuddlefisher: :iconthechamba: :iconphoenixleo: :iconthiefoworld:

Ry-Spirit has always been one of this deviants who's stepped up to the plate to be a shining example of this wonderful community. Not only is Ry's art inspiring but it's just so adorable in the most professional way! I've been a fan of Ry's for a long time and I'm so glad to see a deserving deviant receiving this recognition!

Ry-Spirit Creates bubbly, colourful art work that springs out and greets us with quirky humorous scenes, his art is easily recognisable and appeals to all ages!, I'm glad he has been awarded a deviousness award as I am in no doubt that he has lifted the spirits of many individuals, he definitely deserves it!. Congratulations Ry!

Ry is one of those artists you instantly fall in love with. His art is vibrant, fun, and the themes are often light-hearted and funny. While his gallery is a pleasure to look at, Ry is also one of the most down to Earth artists on DeviantArt. He takes time to engage his followers, celebrates fandoms with themed drawing months, and participates in fun community run events. Every time I see a new Ry drawing pop up in my feed, I get a smile on my face. He’s definitely a big part of the DeviantArt community spirit!

We may be strangers with each other, but our love for the arts bind us together and I know very well that Ry-Spirit has been (and will always be) inspiring lots of growing artists in continuing what they truly love. His artworks are full of life and are vibrant which will make sure to put a smile on our faces. Ry, thank you for adding colors to our lives. Thank you for sharing your artworks. Thank you being fun and most especially, thank you for being you. You are truly an outstanding deviant and congratulations on this new milestone in your life. Long live!

Ry-Spirit is like DeviantArt's very own Pokemon Gym Leader, whose Badges testify to his hugely-committed engagement with his fans, the community and NPCs far and wide. It is especially difficult to overlook Ry's presence on-site with his distinct art style which even the smallest thumbnail could not mask. Granted, things would get ambiguous below the 30px mark, but this doesn't mean Megachu is any less mega. Indeed, Ry's less tangible attributes shouldn't go amiss too; namely, the joy, positivity, hilarity (and outright absurdity) which regularly ooze beyond the pixels. To Ry, I say: way to go pal!

Well what have we here? what can be said about Ry-Spirit that hasn't already been said?  Actually I don't actually quite know since I've not read what everybody else has already written down, hah. BUT, if you are familiar with Ry's work and his presence here on DeviantArt, then you should already know of what he brings to the table. Fun pieces with broad appeal. Whether fan-art or general randomness, done in his signature loose but precise paintery style. To top it off, he's constantly creating. One of the many signs that he loves what he's doing (and you can see it) Congrats on the award, Ry, it was no doubt inevitable!

I have frequently seen Ry-Spirit's works on DA while browsing and it was always a pleasure to find see his works while browsing. And he does have an active fan base and watchers. So after watching him, it was great to see him involving his watchers in discussions or even fun polls! If you are ever in need of some uplifting or cheerful moments and browsing for artworks artworks or simply a fan of particular fandom, you are very like to see them in Ry-Spirit's gallery. It will make you smile, laugh, and even giggle at the adorableness, as well as continue looking in amazement in his ability to portray such an extensive array of characters in different ways. He is also a very community oriented user in the fact that he is very active in participating and interacting with his watchers through the various journals he creates as well as the impressive number of interesting and often amusing polls. As a former Community Volunteer on DeviantArt, he also promoted amazing works and artists through Daily Deviations! His inexhaustible ability to create such lovely, hilarious and amazing works and being such an active deviant who interacts with the community and his fans or any who stumble on his works is extraordinarily inspirational! Congratulations!

Ry is simply amazeballs, not only a talented artist but also a funny and creative guy, I love how he always do things differently, in a fun, colorful, light hearted way, doesn't take things too seriously and in that sense, he really is a fun definition of what it means to be a deviant. I declare myself a Ryceball!

Congratulations to Ry-Spirit!
