Creativity by angculture

DeviantART is where I came initially to explore my creativity and learn new ways to express myself.

Collaborate - by rougeux

DeviantART enabled me to collaborate with other deviants from all around the world, in ways that were simply unimaginable to me before. Through these relationships, I have developed skills and friendships that will last a lifetime. I also collaborate on a daily basis with the Community Volunteers to enhance the deviantART experience for the community :)

Life in Motion by juliedillon

DeviantART is my life.  While I've lived longer than a decade, what I have experienced during the last 10 years, has been monumental and deviantART has been a large part of that.

Burning Inspiration by jayalders

DeviantART is where I go to be inspired and amazed. Whether I'm working on a project and need to get through a block, or needing someone to collaborate with, deviantART has never let me down.

Family by juliedillon

DeviantART is my family, it's where I come to feel safe and supported. I have made friendships here that will last a lifetime and I know that it will always feel like home.

DeviantART and Lifetime's Witches of East End invited you to create an original piece of art using an element or scene from Edgar Allan Poe's "The Tell-Tale Heart," "The Raven," or "The Black Cat." There were amazing renditions of these classic stories, all of which showcased Poe's macabre mastery. The competition was intense, but our judges were able to select the top pieces, which were sent to the Witches of East End Creative Team! Congratulations to the Semi-Finalists below!

:star: Welcome to Wonderland :star:

Greetings, stranger.

I find myself delighted to lay my rather large eyes on you. A purrfectly delicious mystery awaits you. Won't you come this way?

I've been a bad kitty-- a very naughty, naughty feline, indeed. You see, today is Alice's Unbirthday, and all the inhabitants of Wonderland had planned to join her and the Mad Hatter for tea and cake. But, the Mad Hatter, being quite a bit off his rocker, is requiring that everyone wear a hat to the party. Anyone without a hat cannot attend.

Whoops! Mysteriously, *smile* all the hats in Wonderland have gone missing. What a shame, what a shame. Whatever shall we do?

I know what we shall do. You and I, stranger, we shall go to the party together. I hear the cake is delicious this year, and there will be plenty for us.

Except, wait! HA! You cannot!!! You have no hat, either! I suppose you'll have to stay here, too, then. Very well. Goodbye.

What do you mean that's not fair

It's perfectly fair and logical. The rules say you must have a hat. You have no hat. Too bad. You lose. So sad.

I know what you're thinking. You're thinking, Wow, I'll just have to find one of the hats that were lost in Wonderland. I'm a step ahead of you. You can't just take someone else's hat. Then, what are they to wear? You must build your own. Maybe if you find the villagers' hats for them, they will tell you what your own hat should look like. Here's a hint: It should be very unusual-- the more unusual, the better.

How it Works

Well, why are you just standing there? Go get started! I'll even give you the characters' addresses:

Queen of Hearts
Alice
White Rabbit
Dormouse
The Caterpillar
The Mad Hatter
The March Hare
The Gryphon
The Mock Turtle
Alice's Sister
Dinah the Cat
The Duck
Tweedle Dee
Tweedle Dum
The Doorknob
Jabberwocky
The Walrus
The Pigeon

What to do

Go to each page. The characters will have a clue to where to find THEIR hat either in the open or hidden somewhere on their front profile page. Solve the clue and find the hat, then note that character the link to their hat. He or she will give you a clue for making YOUR hat.

But hurry

You only have until noon PT on Wednesday, August 6th to collect all of the clues. When you have collected them, you must turn in a list of your ANSWERS via NOTE to The White Queen by noon on the 6th. When you turn in your answers, The White Queen will give you the location of our party.

The Rules

Very well. I shall give you the rules so you don't get beheaded lose your way.

1. Work alone. Prizes will be awarded for the highest number of correct answers, so it is to your benefit to help no one (feel free to mislead them if they ask for help, however . . .)
2. Work alone.
3. Work alone.
4. You may NOT note the character to ask where their hat is. Do not note them until you can provide them with a link to their lost hat.
5. Only note the characters on the list. Any other hearts are off-limits.
6. Be nice.
7. Work alone.
8. Turn in your answers to The White Queen by August 6th at 12 noon PT.
9. Work alone.

Prizing

I suppose you want a prize, too. If you insist. I will be awarding 2,000 points and a 6-month premium membership each to the 3 people with the highest number of correct answers. If there is a tie, the prizes will go to the first 3 who turned them in.

Moreover, you must participate in this phase of the contest if you want to participate in the next contest. Oops, I've said too much.

If you need help . . .

If you stumble, never fear. Your faithful friend, Cheshire, is here. Should you have trouble with a clue, you can send me a NOTE. I might not lead you astray. Or I might. Or I might not. But I might. Either way, you must note me. Any comments left here asking for help will get you disqualified.

Do I hear jingling in your pocket? You know, you can always buy my loyalty and affection-- but with hearts, not coins. My own heart has been a bit cold lately. Just send me a NOTE with links to some hearts. You can find hearts hidden on the front profile pages of SOME (not all) of deviantART's most warm-"hearted" members. Who could those be? I want the hearts. I want them all. I WILL TELL YOU THINGS!

Warning: You can only use each set of hearts one time, or risk disqualification.

tl;dr

:bulletblue: Visit the pages of each character listed above.
:bulletblue: Find the clue hidden or in plain sight on their front profile page. If you don't find it right away, that means it's hidden and you have to look for it. Do not note the character for help.
:bulletblue: Follow the clue to find their hat.  The link to their hat may not be on their profile page.  It may be on someone elses page, in their gallery or in a group or chat room.
:bulletblue: Follow the clue to find their hat.
:bulletblue: Note the character with a link to their hat.
:bulletblue: They will give you another clue. That clue tells you what to put in YOUR hat. Don't respond to the character; just make a note of your answer and move on.
:bulletblue: Note Cheshire Cat if you have any questions or need a hint (or even an answer to a clue).
:bulletblue: Look on other Community Volunteers front pages to find hidden links to hearts. Some will have them, some will not. There are 8 in total with hearts: Aeirmid, Anoya, PirateLotus-Stock, Nyx-Valentine, Kaz-D, Brookette, STelari, and pullingcandy. Link Cheshire to those hearts to bribe her for information. Use them in any combination, but you can only use each set of hearts once. Try to use them more, and you get disqualified. Sets with more hearts will get you more information.
:bulletblue: When you have answered all the clues (or as many as you can), send a list of your answers to The White Queen. She will give you the link to the party. Do this by 12 noon Pacific Time on Wednesday, August 6th. That's 3 PM Eastern, 8 PM in Western Europe, and 9 PM in Central Europe.

Witches of East End Contest Winners

Fri Aug 1, 2014, 12:23 PM

In our Witches of East End Contest, we challenged you to illustrate a scene or element from one of Edgar Allan Poe's classic tales: "The Black Cat," "The Tell-Tale Heart," or "The Raven." The Creative team behind the Witches of East End have hand-picked three winners, with the top winner earning a spot for their artwork in the upcoming season finale of Witches of East End! Thank you to everyone who entered, and congratulations, winners!

Nevermore by AngelaRizza

Judges' Comments

This is our favorite. It's in the color palette and tone of the Beauchamp house and would be very easy to fit in. It also has great subtext for Asgard as well as Poe. Totally love it!

AngelaRizza has won

  • Artwork used in The Witches of East End Season 2 Finale
  • $1,500 USD
  • 1 Year Premium Membership
  • 8,000 dA Points

Edgar Allan Poe - The Black Cat by AlexanderLevett

Judges' Comments

We love the darkness of this piece and how much it reminded us of Aunt Wendy, while still tying into the Poe theme. You can feel from this art that the cat truly has a story to tell beyond its shadow!

  • $1,000 USD
  • 6 month premium membership
  • 4,000 dA points

The Tell-Tale Heart

Judges' Comments

This piece has a very haunting, strong, and dark emotion that relates both to Witches of East End and Edgar Allen Poe. The aspects of the room (the staircase, chair, etc.) combined with the power of the heart make us feel as if this portrait could come to life!

Last year, just before Halloween, my loving husband participated in a Zombie Run.  For those unfamiliar, it was a 5KM event with a couple of obstacles and people dressed up like zombies, trying to steal your 'lives' (flags that were around your waist).  At the time, I was undergoing some medical stuff and wasn't permitted to participate but it was the beginning of something .. crazy.  In his words, the few obstacles weren't that big of a deal but it was a lot of fun and he wanted to do more.

He then signed up for Warrior Dash and Tough Mudder Given my circumstances at the time, it was assumed I wasn't going to be able to join him but life has a funny way of changing course on you and a couple of weeks before Warrior Dash, I signed up. Warrior Dash was fun but intense, a 5 KM course on a ski mountain and 13 nutty obstacles. The experience was incredible, I pushed my body to do things it really didn't want to do :P and I faced some of my fears head on, like confined spaces and heights, in order to cross the finish line and collect my medal.

Rob had been pushing me to change my 'spectator' ticket for Tough Mudder to a participant one, but I was reluctant.  It's no joke, it's 20 KM and 20+ obstacles that are designed to test your all around strength, stamina, mental grit and camaraderie.  However, after Warrior Dash, I was addicted and so I signed up for Tough Mudder.

We're a few weeks away from one of the biggest challenges I've ever put my mind and body through and I'm excited :P For those that have never heard of these events, here's a fun video:

Rob and I have started a team "Bounty Hunters" and we're raising money for Wounded Warriors.  Founded in 2006, Wounded Warriors Canada is a non-profit organization that helps Canadian Forces members – be they full time or reservists – who have been wounded or injured in their service to Canada. Through a wide range or programs and services, they help find solutions where gaps have left Canada's soldiers in need. Currently, their primary focus is on mental health and, particularly, the staggering impact of PTSD, perpetrated by Operational Stress Injuries. Overall, however, their mandate is to help any Veteran in need as they transition to civilian life. Visit their website to learn more

If you have the ability to donate, please visit the link below, we'd sure appreciate it!

Have you ever participated in an event like this? A mud run or obstacle race? If so tell me about your experience in the comments!

If you haven't, would you consider it? What sorts of things do you do to challenge yourself?

Wish us luck, I'm sure it'll all be fine ;)

Game artists from around the world are uniting to create an art book to support Kevin Griffith's (CowAndCheese) battle with terminal lung cancer.

Kevin Griffith is a senior artist on the Diablo 3 team at Blizzard and has been fighting a rare and ruthless form of cancer known as Alveolar Soft Part Sarcoma (ASPS).

The art book will feature original fan art from Kevin's favourite games and everything about this project screams deviantART to me!  We have a ridiculously talented community of artists and I'm calling on YOU to put your skills to work for an amazing cause.

All proceeds from the
campaign will be donated to cover medical costs for KKG and to iCureASPS.

Submissions are due by July 20, 2014 and should feature one of Kevin's favourite games:

    :bulletgreen: Chrono Tiger
    :bulletgreen: Altered Beast
    :bulletgreen: Diablo 2 & 3
    :bulletgreen: Super Mario RPG
    :bulletgreen: Minecraft
    :bulletgreen: Final Fantasy 4 & 6
    :bulletgreen: World of Warcraft
    :bulletgreen: Mortal Combat 2

You can submit your original fan art here and read more about the project and Kevin on the gamesforgood.com website.

You can also view the current submissions on their DA page @gamesforgood and the progress charts here

Now go prove, once again, that deviantART has a ton of heart

Witches of East End Contest

Tue Jul 15, 2014, 2:01 PM

Illustrate an Edgar Allan Poe scene, story, or element from "The Tell-Tale Heart," "The Black Cat," or "The Raven" that you would expect to see in the world of The Witches of East End. The winning work will be displayed in an episode of the series perhaps as a picture, book illustration, tarot card, or some other fanciful way chosen by the creative team of the show.

Edgar Allan Poe was a master of the mysterious and the macabre. The witches of East End would certainly indulge in the study of the master. Re-familiarize yourself with these three classic Edgar Allan Poe stories and absorb the context for the world of The Witches of East End.

Based on Melissa de la Cruz's New York Times best-selling novel, Witches of East End centers on the Beauchamp family, where in season one sisters Freya and Ingrid discovered they are witches with ancient magical powers. With the help of their mother Joanna and Aunt Wendy, they learned how to cultivate their craft and work together to defeat unearthly enemies seeking revenge on their family, while keeping their abilities a secret from the town.

This season, with the portal to Asgard open, what comes through will forever change the lives of the Beauchamps. Darkness surrounds East End as a new stranger arrives. Joanna is still weak with poison in her blood as the Beauchamps search desperately for a cure. With the death of Penelope, Killian and Dash's warlock powers return. #DarknessIsRising

Transformation Challenge Winners

Tue Jul 8, 2014, 2:03 PM

Thank you to everyone who participated in The Transformation Challenge! The 25 semi-finalist entries blew away the Microsoft and Motherboard judges, but they worked hard together and came up with the three finalists. Each of the finalist winners will receive a Microsoft Surface Pro 3, $1,000 USD, an all-expense paid trip to work with a featured artist, and have had their winning work featured as a home page billboard generating thousands of page views for their deviations.

Razor in the Gutter - Nas Pasha

by raging-akujiki

Habib Zargarpour

This is a powerful piece that shows a personal transformation of someone who is down and out and gets a second chance by bringing himself back from the brink by the use of a simple razor. The art style reinforces the gritty nature of his situation.

Thobey Campion

Raging-Akujiki's submission had a unique take on transformation, applying the theme to a man whose clearly hit the bottom then found a route through to coming back together with a loved one. As someone who's seen incredible comebacks in the lives of close friends, I found it touching. The rich illustration also contributed a certain epic feel inherent in a rising from the ashes story.

Tranformation

by HughEbdy

Habib Zargarpour

There is a very subtle but effective use of composition here, especially with the progression of the frames. The contrast between the armored, heroically posed character and the ending with him running towards the water because he overheated is very comical.

Thobey Campion

As one of the legion of fans of Don Quixote, Monty Python, and really medieval everything, I've always enjoyed the modern take on a very dark period. Hughebdy's work demonstrated a really funny twist that left me pleasantly bewildered but also impressed at the succinctness of his humor.

The Transformation challenge - The Fly-Kid

by Zeich

Habib Zargarpour

The Fly Kid's concept of if you can't beat them join them is very visually displayed here. There is a natural flow from the character at the start to how he gets covered with flies, completing the transformation. Such an innocent kid with funny proportions becomes a menacing fly himself. The center frame has a very dynamic feel to it as the flies attack.

Thobey Campion

Zeich's submission is just straight-up weird in the best way. What wold normally be just an unthinkably awful plan is twisted into something close to a super-power. Maybe it's from my Calvin and Hobbes days (which haven't ended), but the idea of occupying a world by oneself predicated on magical occurrences no one else knows about is just the most appealing thing I can think of. Outside of all this, the texture and artistry of Zeich's work set him apart.

WeChat Emoticon Sticker Winners

Tue Jul 8, 2014, 9:56 AM

Congratulations to the three finalists in the WeChat Animated Emoticon Sticker Challenge! The judges from WeChat were astounded by the ingenuity that was displayed in each entry. All three winners will receive $1,000 and had their entry exhibited in a billboard on the deviantART homepage.

Astralseed tagged me with this list of questionable questions and not wanting to be a party pooper, here goes:

1. How tight do you like your underwear?

Tight enough that they don't fall down but not so tight that I can't breathe.

2. A train is headed towards some city, another train is headed towards another city.  Both trains travel 362 miles before intersecting, with one train going 13mph less than the other.  How much later did the other train leave?

What did you say was in that drink you're drinking?

3. If you peed rainbows, what would it taste like?

Obviously -  Skittles. See the rainbow, taste the rainbow.

4. If you had 7 legs and only one arm, would you walk, wobble, or other?

I'd be famous, so I'd have a driver, or at least someone to carry me around.

5. Do you smoke shampoo?

No, but your questions are starting to make me think you do ;P

6. How often do you wear your clothing inside out?

Whenever I attempt to get dressed in the dark :/

7. The world is ending because it's being hit by giant meteors, will you listen to Aerosmith?

Because of your Magic Touch my Heart's Done Time and thankfully this meteor will give me a Permanent Vacation.

8. Naked snow angels, yay or nay?

I'm Canadian, clearly this is a resounding YAY

9. Will you take her to the next level?

All I hear is "untz untz untz"

10. I say WaWa, you say?

I still think that's a crazy name for a store, granted, it's not as crazy as the 'Piggly Wiggly'.  Silly Americans

While I'm not going to tag anyone, feel free to add your own answers to Astralseed's questions and post them in your own journal :D

Note: Extra love and adoration for Astralseed our deviousness award winner for July! Well deserved, despite her tagging me ;P

DeviantART and WeChat challenged you to create your very own animated sticker! Whether you wanted it happy, sad, or dancing the night away, it was up to you to animate an emoticon sticker you have never seen before. Witches of East End

Wed Jun 25, 2014, 9:51 AM

The Creative Team behind The Witches of East End want to participate with you in a visual conversation celebrating the magical and mysterious world of witchcraft.

The team will be browsing the group galleries over the next 14 days and will offer selected deviants the option to share their deviations through the official Witches of East End social media platforms in return for $100.*

Take a look at the trailers, consult your magic crystal balls, connect with your inner powers and pull from your galleries the most exquisite and exotic witchcraft you can find from your work!

* You may be offered, if selected, an option to accept $100 in return for Lifetime Television obtaining the right to use your deviation on a non-exclusive basis as a social post on one or all of Facebook, Tumblr, Twitter, Google + or a similar social platform each in connection with the promotion of the Witches of East End. You are free to decline the offer. Offer may be subject to signing an additional agreement at the request of Lifetime. If you elect to make fan art with the images provided in this article by Lifetime, you agree that you have a limited license to use the images non-commercially in social networks such as deviantART. Lifetime also agrees that it cannot use any of your work commercially outside of this Group without your additional permission.

From the covens, rings, tribes, and sects of deviantart.

The artist's interest in the images conjured up by "witchcraft" has continued unabated for over 1000 years. What fired the mind of Goya to produce Witches' Sabbath in 1798 still blazes in the imaginations of the artists of the DeviantArt community. There are over 10 million images associated with witchcraft on the deviantART website.

How To Submit Your Own Work!

  • 1. Go to the Witches of East End Group Gallery
  • 2. Press the + button next to the gallery title, and select "Contribute an existing deviation."
  • 3. Select the image from your gallery you'd like to submit, and then press the green "Submit" button.
  • 4. Your image will now be featured in the group gallery!

The Witches of East End creative team has conjured up the following images to act as inspiration for other Witches of East End gallery submissions.

Download the images and feel free to manipulate, redraw, or create your own fanart inspired by the show!

Conversations
1.

Have you ever seriously experimented with witchcraft? What was your intent?

2.

Do you believe there is such a thing as "witchcraft" in which spells, for bad or good intent, can be cast that circumvent the general scientific rules of physics? Or is witchcraft just another fairy tale narrative to teach children caution and entertain adults?

3.

What are your feelings about Wicca, the "witch religion," seeking to reunite with ancient Pagan animist spiritual beliefs?

4.

Would your interest in practicing witchcraft embody transformation into an entirely different lifestyle and belief system? Or would you just like to have some potent memorized incantations for turning troublesome people at work into newts and toads?

1. Art is Personal

Every day, daily deviations are featured, artist interviews are posted, and countless journals of thumbnails published.  Every single day, community members, volunteers and staff, all come together and share in a love of art. It doesn't always go well and sometimes a piece of artwork I adore, strikes the wrong chord with someone. However, regardless of the message received the artwork achieved the goal of becoming personal and striking an emotion and there are no rules that state this emotion should always be happy and fluffy. I'm personally inspired by a different kind of image, one that challenges my feelings and ideals and sometimes, ones that make me uncomfortable. It was 1995, at the Guggenheim in New York City, that I stumbled across the work of Joel- Peter Witkin.  It was his work that inspired me to pick up a camera but to say that his work is globally appealing, would not be valid.  For me, it was the beginning of a great journey that would eventually lead me to this community.  For others, I imagine they would rather not view his work, as its controversial and uncomfortable for them.

As an artist, my art is very personal.  Every image I create tells a story and what I've learned is that even when I feel the intent or message is obvious, it might be completely lost on someone else.  Does that make them stupid? not at all, it just means that my art spoke to them differently and that happens for a number of reasons. It could be about what they were feeling that day or it could be speaking to something that happened in their past or it could very well be the paragon of their greatest fear and while it is my artwork and my intention, there is nothing wrong with someone else seeing something completely different.

Every day I look through comments on articles or Daily Deviations and I'm always amazed by how vastly different the opinions are.  Some people love it and others absolutely hate it, some feel it's about one thing while another is on a completely different track.  The point is that these feelings are all valid and, assuming the commenter has shared their feelings respectfully, there's nothing wrong with that.

If a piece of artwork manages to elicit an emotion - be it positive or negative - in my opinion, it has more than earned it's place.  If you feel differently, that's okay.  No one will react to one piece of artwork the same way.  In fact, you could probably go back through you favourites gallery and look at selections you made years ago, and find those pieces may not make you feel the same way about them as they did at the time.

Conversely, if your piece of artwork manages to accumulate a wealth of negativity,  remember the silver lining - Your art made people feel -  Then pat yourself on the back and go create your next masterpiece.

Art is a personal journey of mind, body and soul - both to create and to experience and we'd all do better as a community to consider that.

Feel free to share your favourite artists or pieces of artwork in the comments below :) I'd love to see the variety of tastes and styles that exist in our community!

jordan crane
jordan crane

Jordan Crane was born in Los Angeles, California, which is still his home. He was educated in public school and attended USC for engineering. He self-published the first issue of Non in 1997. The anthology grew quickly, and by the fifth and final issue, it was an impressively designed package wrapped by a silkscreen cover, featuring top tier talent as well as his own Xeric award winning graphic novel Col-Dee. During this time, Crane published his first graphic novelette The Last Lonely Saturday, a simple story of love and death, which has become an enduring favorite.

Crane's specific particular design aesthetic could be found across his work, featuring warm covers accentuated by an eye for colors playing and fighting together. Crane's illustrated and design work has been critically recognized with several awards. In 2010, Jordan's biggest book design project, The Art of Jaime Hernandez was published by Abrams books. That same year, he launched www.whatthingsdo.com, a website portal featuring many of today's top cartoonists, a natural follow up to his previous editing work in Non.

Right now, Crane is finishing his graphic novel Keeping Two, a collection of short stories titled Lower the Living, and the fifth issue of his comic book Uptight, which will feature his first scifi story titled the Dark Nothing. His current work can be found in his ongoing comic book Uptight, published by Fantagraphics.

How did you use the Surface to create your artwork?

I used the Surface from start to finish. I used to work on paper, and my process is nearly the same digitally. I start by making notes, just words at this point, things that I'd like to draw, relations and associations on the topic. When a couple of interesting things start to poke out at me, I'll start sketching. At this point I do simple figure drawings to see if the idea has legs. So I open up Manga Studio, get my page sized, and start rough sketches. I push the idea through to the last panel, and when I have something that works, then reduce the opacity on the layer, and do the final tight drawing on a new layer. Then colors. I'll initially just fill the spaces with harsh contrasting colors to make sure I get all the nooks and crannies filled in. Then I'll find a pair of colors I like, something that's pleasing but still pretty argumentative. Then I will tone everything based on that pair. Then fiddle some more with the colors, and then done.

What programs did you use?

I used Manga Studio Pro from start to finish for this comic strip.

How long did it take to create the piece?

I worked on it for about 8 hours. Drawing and coloring from start to finish was about 4 hours. It was spread out over a couple of days, so I got to think about it a lot, so that'd account for another 4 hours. I do a lot of my best drawing inside my head.

How did you use the Surface to create your artwork?

It started as a sketch on paper and inked on vellum. It was then scanned on to the Surface. I transferred the same process that I normally use on the computer, but implemented the Surface instead. I was able to easily work on the illustration on the go. Something that wasn't as possible with my laptop, because it can be cumbersome taking it out while on the move.

jasper wong

What programs did you use?

I used Photoshop.

How long did it take to create the piece?

It took me about a week to complete the piece. I have a 1 and half year old daughter and she loves to play with the Surface. She likes to draw with the pen. But, it also slowed my progress. :-)

Dash Shaw is a cartoonist and animator whose last graphic novel, "New School", was named one of the best books of 2013 by NPR. His other recent books include "BodyWorld" and "Bottomless Belly Button." His animated works include the Sigur Ros video "Seraph", "Wheel of Fortune", and the ifc series "The Unclothed Man in the 35th Century AD." His new graphic novel "Doctors", about doctors who enter deceased people's afterlives to bring them back from the dead, arrives later this year from Fantagraphics Books. He lives in Brooklyn, New York.

dash shaw

How did you use the Surface to create your artwork?

I started it as a sketch and then scanned it into the Surface. Here you can see a sketch.

dash shaw

What programs did you use?

I used Photoshop. The finishes were done entirely in Photoshop, on the Surface.

How long did it take to create the piece?

That's hard to say. I did other versions. And then I stare into space for a while. I don't know. Maybe a couple days?
