1 cup boiling water
1 (4 oz) package orange flavor Jell-o
1 pint vanilla ice cream; softened (2 cups)
1 prepared chocolate flavor crumb crust
thawed non-dairy whipped topping or whipping cream
candy corn
black liquorice, cut into 1 inch pieces
Stir boiling water into gelatin in medium bowl 2 minutes or until
completely dissolved. Spoon in ice cream, stirring until melted and smooth. Refrigerate 10 minutes or until slightly thickened (consistency of unbeaten egg whites). Spoon into crust. Refrigerate 3 hours or until firm. Just before serving, make Jack-O-Lantern face on pie with whipped topping, candy corn and liquorice.
For a vegan version use vegetable based gelatin (see below for recipe) as well as a soy-based ice cream and vegan pie crust
Gelatin-Free Jello
Ingredients (use vegan versions):
20 cups Juice blend (frozen and reconstituted, not from concentrate or powder), like Pineapple Orange
4 to 6 tablespoon corn starch (Depending on how firm you want it)
Directions:
Heat the juice blend until it gets reasonably hot on stove. Add the cornstarch and stir until it is blended. When it thickens to something like jelly put it in a dish. Refrigerate for 2 to 3 hours or until firm.
enjoy
If you submit a picture of your finished pie into artisan crafts -> culinary arts and note me with the deviation link there just may be something in it for some lucky deviant with a good looking pie!
