"Security is an illusion. Life is either a daring adventure or it is nothing at all."
We often lose opportunities because we've opted to take the safe and secure path. When we build walls around ourselves, not only do we protect ourselves from the world outside, we trap ourselves inside.
I prefer the unsecure path. Sure it's scarier and I stand a greater chance of getting hurt, but it's the only way I can live.
I like the moral behind this picture :] before reading the comment, I was planning to say that I never saw barbed wire as a symbol of security before, but entrapment. Then again, I feel the same way you do about taken the "other" path. With my younger friends, everyone wants to become something that has a promising, secure future or career instead of what they want to do. When people ask what I want to be, I say, "A writer" and when they ask what kind, I just shrug. This tends to put them off, because they expect to hear that I intend to be a doctor or scientist of some kind. But why not take the path more suited for you?
