“The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart.” ~Helen Keller

A client of mine gave me her amaryllis since she was going out of town and wouldn't see it bloom. I decided to photograph the bloom for her so she'd be able to enjoy it as well. I took three shots in total.. one distinctly me and two other ';pretty' shots. I rarely photograph what I see.. I photograph what I feel inside myself, so it was impossible for me to go with the other two empty shots. Hopefully she'll enjoy it.. i suppose we'll find out.

I personally really like how vibrant the colours are, they immediately grab your attention. The focus on the heart of the flower is also really nice and the composition with the two leaves in the top-right corner works well.

However, I feel like the petals in the back area bit too much out of focus, up to the point where it starts to look a bit distracting if you look at the picture for long.

Since the heart of the flower is white, it already needs a bit more colour behind it to stand out more and I feel like the blurred petals are a tad to soft in colour to give it that bid of edge it needs to stand out more. I also think it could've looked better with a bit more sharpness to the green core.

All in all, though, I still stand by my first statement: it's colourful and it certainly succeeds in immediately grabbing your attention, I just think some parts might look better if they were a bit sharper. That being said: it's a good shot! :)

Love this picture!
The flower seems clean and cold, sorrounded by white, and it's pink with touches of green gives a warm-almost-sexy feeling.
I'm a weak for flowers. I love to see them bloom too! But I don't like to cut them, and when somebody gives me flowers, that makes me a little bit sad, it's weird, maybe because I inconscious think that I'm having a corpse (a vegetal one ;) displayed in a jar.

It's interesting what you have focussed on here, because most people would go for the inside of the flower, or the petals, but you seem to have gone for the stamen-y thing.
