“The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart.” ~Helen Keller

A client of mine gave me her amaryllis since she was going out of town and wouldn't see it bloom. I decided to photograph the bloom for her so she'd be able to enjoy it as well. I took three shots in total.. one distinctly me and two other ';pretty' shots. I rarely photograph what I see.. I photograph what I feel inside myself, so it was impossible for me to go with the other two empty shots. Hopefully she'll enjoy it.. i suppose we'll find out.

I personally really like how vibrant the colours are, they immediately grab your attention. The focus on the heart of the flower is also really nice and the composition with the two leaves in the top-right corner works well.

However, I feel like the petals in the back area bit too much out of focus, up to the point where it starts to look a bit distracting if you look at the picture for long.

Since the heart of the flower is white, it already needs a bit more colour behind it to stand out more and I feel like the blurred petals are a tad to soft in colour to give it that bid of edge it needs to stand out more. I also think it could've looked better with a bit more sharpness to the green core.

All in all, though, I still stand by my first statement: it's colourful and it certainly succeeds in immediately grabbing your attention, I just think some parts might look better if they were a bit sharper. That being said: it's a good shot! :)

It's a beautiful piece. I would like to say. I love how the focus is on the closest petals and the "sex parts" of the flower (I'm currently forgetting the names I think one is the style and the other is the anther... I should know this as a science major). The hot pink color is nicely contrasted to the pretty blue background, I just wish that a little more of the flower was in focus.

The flower itself seems like it has been very well taken care of, as it doesn't show any signs of weathering or being eaten by bugs. It was a very pretty power to pick for a photo shoot.

I especially love the fact that you framed it in white. It really makes it poop and brings out the white in the flower. Great pick!

This is a lovely photograph! I love the colours, so soft and calming. I love the way the strong pink looks against the light blue background. The focus is also very fitting as well. I quite like the way the stamen is protruding outwards almost like it's gonna come out the picture, and the way it's shaped kinda looks like it's beckoning to the viewer. It's a very interesting perspective, like you're seeing right into the flower. I love how clear it is that you can see all the lovely textures of the petal that's in focus.
Only problem I can find is that little bit of green in the corner, it's a bit distracting even though it's out of focus. I think it would have been cool if the rest of the image was blue, but then again that little bit of green somewhat compliments that bit of green inside the flower.
I also like the framing of the picture. The white frame I think completes the picture and it just helps bring out that white part of the stamen.
Really nice! :D

What a gorgeous flower....what a gorgeous picture of a gorgeous flower. I feel like this is a wonderful angle and focus that makes this stand out from other flower shots. The way the stamen stands out in the middle is different from anything else I have ever seen. Another thing I enjoy about this picture is how you can see all of the detail on one petal and then the other petals are blurry.
