Continuing with the series on superstitions:

Black cat - In ancient Egypt, the Goddess Bast was a black, female cat. Christians, wanting to rid society of all traces of other religions, convinced the ignorant that black cats were demons in disguise and should thus be destroyed. In the process, they also destroyed the kindly ladies who cared for the cats, believing them to be witches. Being demons, a black cat crossing your path would create a barrier of evil, cutting you off from God and blocking the entrance to heaven.

Model - Merlin

I love black cats. Sadly, they comprised the highest number of euthanizations annually. Apparently being black is stigmatized in the feline world. I've campaigned for black cats (they are people, too!) to promote adoption from shelters. Except around Halloween. They often face the same fate of any ill-begotten holiday critter like bunnies and chicks.

I have a black cat and he is the best non-human human I've ever known. Your Merlin is beautiful

I've volunteered at shelters so I know everything you're saying to be true :/ I've had a lot of black cats in my life time, as a result!

Sadly I lost Merlin a couple of years ago, after a battle with cancer and after grieving that loss, I adopted Gobi, also a black cat ;)

I think I will probably have black cats for the rest of my life. Was Gobi named for the desert?

This is my Kismet [link] quite the model.

oh! LOL I will have to look that one up. I love cauliflower! Seriously, if there is a veggie platter out, I am liable to eat them all. :giggle:
