Black cat - In ancient Egypt, the Goddess Bast was a black, female cat. Christians, wanting to rid society of all traces of other religions, convinced the ignorant that black cats were demons in disguise and should thus be destroyed. In the process, they also destroyed the kindly ladies who cared for the cats, believing them to be witches. Being demons, a black cat crossing your path would create a barrier of evil, cutting you off from God and blocking the entrance to heaven.
Oh Gosh! I have to say that I totally love cats, and especially black ones, so this Deviation has really catched my eye!
I'm sure that anyone would agree with me that the eye really stands out in this photo. It looks unbelievably hypnotizing, I have to say, and it has attracted my attention completely!
I have rated this Deviation's originality as four stars, because I've seen a couple of similar photos across the web, although other than that, it is original.
I am glad to say that the technique you used here, works well with the cat! Also, the black and white effect is really effective too. Even though the colours are dark, this photo still attracts the viewers attention, which is great!
I am looking forward to seeing more of your deviations like this! Well done,
My mom is EXTREMELY superstitious. Once when we ere driving home, a black cat crossed the road and she went two or three blocks out of the way just so she wouldn't cross the cat's path.
I hope to have a black cat and a hairless Sphinx cat some day
I love the picture and the text. Many superstitions are a cause of catholicism and comes from the Middle Ages. I had a girlfriend who had a cat named Merlin also ^^
Such a lovely portrait! I love the dramatic lighting and composition. Though, judging by the size of his pupil, he might not appreciate how close the camera is. I know my grumpy black cat needed to be bribed with treats and given an exciting new box to sit in before he'd pose for the camera.
