Celebrating Deviousness - May 2016

In Recognition of Exemplary Membership and an Outstanding Spirit of helpfulness and mentoring within the DeviantArt community.

Introducing ryky

:iconryky:

My name is Benjamin Cehelsky and I’m from the Czech Republic. I’m 23 years old and I have drawn since I was child. However, the biggest inspiration for me was DeviantArt, which I joined 9 years ago. I met a lot of people and friends all over the world here. My style of painting has changed many times throught the years and it has improved. Mainly, I was into the digital paiting. Many talented artists inspired me to try this, right here on DeviantArt. In 2012, I decided to help beginners, that’s why I started to create tutorials for digital paitings.

People were so grateful and feedback was so great that I’m still doing it. At this time I’m really into scenery and fantasy work. I’m so happy that people are enjoying my paintings more and more. I would do anything to have people enjoy my work. I want to thank you all for the support I get from you, from this community. You are awesome and you are inspiring me to never leave the thing I do and love the most. Thank you. Love, ryky

May 2016

Deviousness Award Winner

A deviant for 9 years, ryky has made a huge impact on the DeviantArt community, encouraging and leading his fellow artists to improve their artistic abilities. Using his over 150 tutorials and resources, fellow deviants have found amazing help drawing eyes, lips, hair, and more. Outside of these useful resources, ryky has made an impression with his unique art style as well, featuring strong colors and silhouettes. Ryky will often live-stream his drawing process, giving his fellow artists the chance to see him in action. In addition to his artistic contributions, ryky has also hosted his own challenges and giveaways through his journals, engaging and supporting not only his watchers but the whole DeviantArt community.

It is for these reasons that we are proud to award the May Deviousness Award to ryky.

Community Quotes

ryky has always been a deviant I can rely on for help. I had been search for a tutorial on something, which I had struggled with for a very long time. After finding their profile, I knew it was an instant watch. Over the last few years, I’ve stayed with ryky and I’ve continued to learn new techniques. They answer questions, not just on dA, but other social media they have. They have tons of tutorials covering a huge variety of tutorials. I know first hand how much time that takes, and I find it incredibly encouraging that they take so much time out for other deviants by making them. Their tutorials include special effects, environments, lighting and even anatomy, so most anything you can think of. In addition, their art is just beautiful eye candy. Brilliant colors and lighting are such a treat to look at. Fantastical elements and encouraging messages and stories come with each one. Even though their art is rarely fully rendered, it still speaks volumes to me personally. They also host giveaways and streams, really getting involved with their followers and watchers. Lots of great artists do their craft well, but people like ryky really make that effort to keep active, keep their followers active. I can always refer to their gallery if I need help with something artistically. After being active on their social media, I know they are someone that I could ask and expect a reply from as well. Overall very deserving of such a reward! Congratulations ryky!”

Benjamin captures expertly light and shadow. If you love art and especially if you’re willing to learn a lot, you’ll definitely want to check out his gallery. The wonderful tutorials are legendary and lovely easy to follow. The magnificent style that plays perfectly with shades, creates a dreamlike atmosphere. I hardly know any other artist who shares in such a varied and productive way art with his admirers. Thank you for all.”

ryky’s work is amazing. I find myself returning to his gallery time and time again for his Tutorials and Resources which have really helped me a great deal with my own creative projects. His gallery is a difficult to leave once I am there because I just want to keep looking. I believe each of us has something in this life that we are meant to do and I believe that ryky is doing exactly what he was born to do… it all comes so naturally for him.”

ryky’s works are so vivid and eye-catching. I was mesmerized by his usage of light and mood in coloring. I had come across ryky’s work one day when I was browsing DeviantArt. Then, to my surprise, he had a folder of tutorials to share. I checked it out and instantly began watching him. I believe that he is definitely a great community member as he is willing to help others and share his knowledge of digital art. His resources are fantastic and I am a big fan of his dreamy landscape art. I am always delighted to become lost in his beautiful gallery. Thank you, ryky, for your contribution to our community!”

I love ryky! I have followed his progress over the years now and it is amazing to see how much he has developed. He has his very own distinctive style and unlike many other popular artists he doesn’t hesitate to share his knowledge and techniques with his fans. I have never seen any fellow artist producing new tutorials and step by steps in such pace! He is also very responsive, down to earth and loves interacting with his followers. Very well deserved award!”

ryky is a very resourceful and extremely talented deviant. From glowing blue hair to clouds in the sky, Benjamin’s gallery offers many insightful tutorials in how to draw a variety of objects. Not only are their tutorials spot on but their gallery is filled with colorful masterpieces with great composition showcasing their huge amount of skill. With drawings drawn in times sometimes as low as 10 minutes, ryky demonstrates how much lighting and texture can bring a piece together. Congratulations Benjamin, you definitely deserve this!”

ryky is one of my favorite artists on this site and that alone says a lot. I love the soft flow and mystery in his works, they always make me day dream. It takes a lot to get into another person’s mind and make them feel warm and dreamy, yet he does it every time and not only is he a bright and accomplished artist, but he is also great at teaching others through his many and diverse tutorials. I am very glad I get to congratulate him for receiving the award this month, it is very well deserved and I wish him the best of luck in his endeavors!”

I’ve only been watching ryky for a few months now, but during that time his dedication not only to his art but also to this community have definitely shown. His gallery is a wonderland just waiting to be explored deeper, filled with vibrant colors and beautiful scenery. It is however not just his fantastic art contributions to the site that make him stand out as an exemplary deviant though, ryky regularly posts useful tutorials covering simple subjects that are essential to every digital artist.”

ryky is that one artist that you almost cannot miss on DeviantArt. His art stands out from the crowd by it’s colorfulness and imaginative subject. He has come a long way since he started on DeviantArt and over the years he shared his improvement and painting methods with the community in the form of streams and countless small tutorials that are simple to follow even for the beginning artist. Congrats with your award, Ryky. It’s well deserved.”

ryky's works are both stunning in composition and colour combination, their pieces are always vibrant with life and emotionally driving colours, every scene they put together always tells a clear story, it's really magical. I've often seen ryky putting in so much of their time and effort to create tutorials for new and old artists with tricks and tips on how to draw, paint and design certain elements, this kind of generosity really helps the community flourish and bloom. I'm really happy to see such a friendly and familiar face like ryky being recognized by the community and being awarded Deviousness! Congratulations!"

Congratulations to ryky!

Deviousness Award

Deviousness Award
It is not often we bestow deviousness upon someone who is already a member of staff, but sometimes you need to bend those rules when there are exceptions to the rule like $Moonbeam13. She has been heading up the crew of Gallery Directors as head of Artist Relations for going on a year now, listening to suggestions from the community, enacting her own ideas, getting input from the volunteers, and bringing you massively cool contests. And that’s just some of the things she gets done in a single day. It is with great pride and a huge vote of “thanks” that we give deviousness to $Moonbeam13 on the verge of our 6th Anniversary!

So i'm not entirely sure where to pitch this,
but i think DAmuro should have a pixel brush, like Gimp does.
I was just thinking that would be nice.
Sorry to bother you.

After a 3 months of being here I have to admit that dA Community is great, provide support, and keep me drawing. And since you're one of persons responsible for this site, I would like to thank you kindly for your amazing work! I'm still discovering dA, but no doubt I'm happy to be part of it.

Have a great weekend!
